a flower will not grow here
but the books came
and with them tales of a foreign land
and suddenly you found yourself
floating on flooded ground
from the vast ocean underneath
wet soil into loam
and the tales
cracked your shell
hardened by numbers
and insistence for a better life
and from you sprouted
a bud of afternoon grass
with you the hero
in monologue with the monster
yourself
you are stronger than you think
and they are frightened of you
yourself, dwarves, and giant in one large
unbounded universe.
